Recording Kentucky Memories http://www.learn-america.com/avalons-creativity-center/
At a recent Visioning Meeting of the Tourism/Business Development /Agriculture session it was noted that there is history in Hart County of International interest. However, no one seems to know about it.
As a published author this caused me to think about all the stories that the citizens of this area have inside their heads that will probably go untold unless someone puts them down on paper.
Storytelling is a lost art in our civilization. Unlike other cultures, such as our Native American Indians there are no longer story telling sessions that pass on our day to day history. Most of us tend to consider history as a thing of the past that usually happens to someone else and is then captured by another someone else, recorded and in some cases after the fact, then often inaccurately documented.
I would like to capture the stories that you have to tell, the things that are part of Kentucky’s history and perhaps Hart County’s that are part of your life time or your parents or grandparents and put them in a book.
You do not necessarily have had to be born in Hart County, it just has to be about Kentucky life, perhaps even a story you know about your parents or grandparents.
It can be hand written, typed and mail to me, Arlene Wright-Correll at 100 Dave Wintsch Rd., Munfordville, KY 42765 or email to me at askarlene@scrtc.com putting the words KY STORY TELLING in the subject line and it should be at least 250 words long. It can be longer. Please make sure you put your name, address and telephone number at the end of your story in the event I have to contact you. Or should you like you may call me at 270 524 9567 to make an appointment to come and tell me your story and I will write it down for you.
